BOTASERA · STONE, LEVEL & SEASONAL MEMORY
In 2021 BOTASERA treated the east-road sloping plot in Oran–Taşpınar as a landscape that reveals, rather than conceals, the house’s 5.40-metre change in level. There is no pool, water feature or conventional lawn. Instead, an Elazığ Vişne serpentinite vein crosses a 62 m² dry Kozak monzonite canyon, giving the project both its name and spatial direction. A 138 m² Pietra Serena pedestrian spine links the levels in two branches, while a 116 m² Ceppo di Gré living terrace and a 48 m² steam-bent chestnut canopy open outdoor life to the view. A single Pinus parviflora ‘Glauca’, with an asymmetric cloud-pruned crown, is the monumental focus. The seasonal framework of Acer, Ginkgo, Malus, Betula, Quercus and Pseudotsuga is enriched with Corylopsis, Forsythia, Callicarpa, Symphoricarpos, Echinops, Limonium and drought-tolerant perennials. Subsurface drip irrigation serves eleven hydrozones; 54 luminaires and 26 metres of linear light distinguish the red fissure, pine, canyon and chestnut ribs at different warm colour temperatures without glare.
